HELPFUL HINTS for operation and maintenance of your Spa
Diverter Valves - Some spas are fitted with diverter valves. Diverter valves are for transferring water from one area to another. If you find them tight or stiff, turn the spa off at the power switch, lift off the handle, hold the outside of diverter and screw anti-clockwise, remove centre gate out of housing, wipe any sand or dirt from the gate, wipe down inside housing. Sand scratches with light sand paper and put back together. Handle breaking due to stiffness is not a warranty item.
Air Locks- If you have emptied and refilled your spa and the pump comes on but there is no water movement in the spa, the spa is probably suffering from an air lock. To get the air out of your pump - turn the spa off find the filtration pump, which is situated inside the spa cabinet. Locate the pipe that goes into top of pump. This has a large nut which is called the ‘barrel union'. Undo slowly anti-clockwise until you hear the air escape - when water comes out, tighten it back up, this should fix the air lock .DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Sometimes you may have to start the pump to help remove the air. To prevent this from happening, try filling the spa up through the filter box.
Touchpad - If you are experiencing flashing lights on the touch pad, try turning power off for 10 - 15 minutes, this should reset the electronics. If not call your service technician.
Jets - If jets are stiff or will not rotate, remove jet, immerse in a container with plain white vinegar. (Vinegar will soften mineral deposits). Let soak for a few hours. Flush jet thoroughly with clean running water. Replace jet.
Ozone Air Stone - Ozone manufacturer recommends, when you empty your spa to unscrew the blue air stone and remove and clean the stone in hot water. For further advice contact our service department.
Headrests - If your headrests get dirty, clean them with soapy warm water. If your headrests are getting discoloured and you have an ozone fitted, this is a natural oxidising process from the excess ozone gas. This is not covered under warranty, however if the spa is not going to be used for a while remove the pillows from the spa. Be careful when removing / refitting pillows as excessive force may result in damage. Pillows are not covered by warranty and silicone is the only way to re fit them.
Timber Cabinet - To rejuvenate your timber cabinet, use Cabot's exterior decking oil. Twice a year is recommended.
Spa Cover - To clean your spa cover simply use warm soapy water and hose off, being careful not to get soapy water in the spa. The spa cover has small holes on the underside, these holes are for condensation which builds up inside the cover. Do not hold the cover by the seals (between the 2 halves) they are not handles and will break. The cover is not designed for sitting, walking, jumping or lying on.
Scum Lines - This is caused by excessive body oils and other surface contaminants either from your body or the water. Turn power off and drain spa completely, once drained wipe the whole spa shell with methylated spirits. Refill to correct level before turning spa on.
REMEMBER TO DEGREASE YOUR FILTER PERIODICALLY AS BODY OILS ETC WILL CLOG UP THE FILTER AND MAKE YOUR PUMP WORK HARDER, EVENTUALLY STOPPING FILTRATION.
